Tips Berpuasa : Diari Ramadhan K

First day puasa jatuh pada hari Khamis, 18.06.2015 – ibu tak kejutkan sahur so Khayra breakfast pukul 7.00 pagi. Ibu sediakan bekal seperti biasa tapi Khayra kata nak bawa biskut Chipsmore sahaja. Kalau dapat half day pun, ibu dah gembira.

So bila balik school, Kak Ima kata dia bagi Khayra makan nasi dengan lauk ikan masak kicap tapi Khayra tak tambah nasi. Balik ke rumah, ibu check bekal, Khayra tak sentuh langsung. Jadi kiranya Khayra puasa 3/4 hari je masa first day puasa. Alhamdulillah. Malam pula, Khayra request nak ikut ibu pergi terawikh dan managed to complete solat Isyak berjemaah dan 8 rakaat solat Terawikh berjemaah di Masjib Kubang Parit. Alhamdulillah.

Ibu suap adik for lunch pun sorok-sorok dari Khayra supaya Khayra tak terliur. Alhamdulillah, hari kedua hingga hari kelima berpuasa, Khayra managed to puasa full sampai berbuka tapi pukul 5 gitu, Khayra ada minta air suam sikit. Hehe.

So far Alhamdulillah, Khayra selalu eager nak pergi terawikh dan berpuasa. Ibu memang tak kejut sahur awal sebab ini tahun latihan kan, next year kita try OK?

InsyaAllah. Amin.

Sayang selalu,
-signed-
Ibu dan Abah.

#Tips diari Ramadhan Khayra :

1. Cuba terangkan ganjaran berpuasa – kanak-kanak mudah hadam dan perlu faham on reasoning kalau kita explain dan saya berusaha dengan tidak menjanjikan dengan sebarang upah (duit, hadiah etc.) supaya dia tahu sebab sebenar dia berpuasa. Yes, tak salah janjikan sesuatu untuk bagi semangat - you know your kids better.

2. Moms know their kids better – saya memang sengaja tak kejutkan sahur pada waktu sahur sebab tahu kemampuan anak saya yang makan banyak pada usianya sekarang. Ini latihan, insyaAllah kami cuba pertingkatkan tahun hadapan.

3. Jangan memaksa – take things slowly. Saya tak marah kalau Khayra request nak minum air masak masa first 5 days berpuasa TAPI saya tak pernah offer.

4. Team up with your spouse – sangat penting sebab suami juga mainkan peranan untuk sama-sama tolong kita untuk latihan berpuasa anak-anak.

Simple As That

My birthday was 3 days ago. So overwhelming with all those FB messages, private messages, Whatsapps messages, and calls to wish me on my birthday. Tak rasa tua pun?! Bahahahaha. *in denial*

As usual on my birthday: the most-awaited-card-award goes to the one from my dear husband and as expected, I cried when I read that. *drama queen* Serious, touching sangat and rasa macam baru je bercinta *ehem*

My husband and his sweet-written-notes = never fail untuk buat daku jatuh cinta berkali-kali lagi. Haha. *blush*

So back to my birthday story – nothing yang fancy pun. Hari Jumaat tu (12th June), kita busy kemas dan bersihkan rumah sebab dah nak puasa dan sekaligus buat persiapan Raya sebab nanti senang nak concentrate this coming Ramadhan ya kareem. So we called our usual helper yang kami akan call kalau melibatkan pembersihan yang maksima seluruh rumah - untuk datang bersihkan sekali. The rest of the day I just spent time dengan kekanak riang tu je kat rumah dan buat aktiviti together. Bila malam kita semua dah ready pakai cantik-cantik nak went out for my birthday dinner, tetibe on the way tu both of us rasa tak sedap perut, lastly we decided untuk tapau je foods and makan kat rumah with the kids. Hahaha. Hubby insisted to bring me to a hotel for dinner tapi saya tanak. So dia kata dia hutang satu special dinner dengan saya. Kekeke.

The thing is I consider myself as easy to please. Not interested with big houses (sebab nanti penat nak mop / sapu. Kekeke), not interested with luxury cars (I think tak berbaloi sebab the value will deficit every year), not interested with expensive dinner (asal kenyang dan sedap, cukuplah for me) and am not a collector of designer bags (I hereby reserve my comment - hihihi) – so dear Mr. Husband, count on your blessings! LOL :P

One thing for sure, I won’t decline any vacation offer :D Just simple as that. Bahahaha. *kenyit mata*

The school session was resumed back yesterday lepas 2 minggu tak payah fikir pasal bekal. And these cute things sampai at the right time!

Food picks from @nuku.nuku. Too cute to resist!

Island Vacay - Sari Pacifica Resort and Spa, Redang

I have a lot of things to write tapi tak cukup masa. But for now, kita review on our recent island vacation to : REDANG ISLAND (04.06.2015 – 06.06.2015).

Since it was school holiday season, jadi harga pakej kami adalah: peak season.

(1) 3H2M package at Sari Pacifica Resort and Spa (pre-booked):

Type of Villa : Lagoon
RM598.00 per adult
RM299.00 per child (4yo and above)
*inclusive of buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The room : very spacious with 1 king size bed and 1 queen size bed, a balcony facing manmade fountain, changing / wardrobe room, safe box, TV, make up room, separated toilet and shower rooms and bath tub. The buffet spread meals were good and delicious consist of salad station, dessert and fruit station, beverages station, soup station and the main course station (nasi putih and lauk pauk and vegetables, pasta, noodles, nasi goreng, sausages, etc).

It was just a walking distance to the hotel lobby, cafe and beach. The view was amazing, Subhanallah. I have this love-hate relationship with the beach as I love the scenery and the relaxing moments there but I hate to do the cleaning part of the fine beach sand on our clothes. Teheee.

We rarely take the kids to the beach as we are not so sure what to do on an island vacay but after staying in Redang for the past few days I could not help but fall in love with island vacation. My kids have had their enjoyable moments there throughout our stay.

Thus, island vacay : 1 - Wahida : 0.

View from Sari Pacifica - Lobby

(2) Ferry transfer : KT Shahbandar Jetty – Redang Island (1 hour 30 mins):

EXPRESS SEJAHTERA by SEJAHTERA FERRY Services Sdn. Bhd. (pre-booked)

RM35.00 (per adult) for one (1) way transfer
RM20.00 (per child) for one (1) way transfer

Our Ferry scheduled time:
From KT Shahbandar Jetty to Redang Island : 8.30am
From Redang Island to KT Shahbandar Jetty : 11.30am

It is advisable that you take your medicine to prevent from motion sickness. We took our medicine (including the kids) half an hour before boarding the ferry to Redang. Most of us dozed off in the 1 hour 30 minutes ferry ride to Redang as there was nothing else you can do. There was TV in the ferry, but if you are lucky to get the front seat, then you can kill the time by watching movies.

We were being transferred to another boat when we were about 500 meters to reach Redang Island (basically it was done at the sea) and only then we reached at the island itself. It has no jetty at all – just a main drop off to the island in front of Redang Island Resort. Next, we have to wait for our mini tractor to pick us up to Sari Pacifica. It was basically a mini tractor with 4 huge tires which can be drove through the sand beach heading up to our resort which was located about 300 meters from the main drop off. We (and our luggage) had to be transported to Sari Pacifica Resort in two trips as the mini tractor was not capable to move with heavy loads as it had to go through lots of fine beach sand.

We managed to check in early during that day and after rest for a while, we went for lunch. Later in the evening, we went to the beach for sand castle and swimming activities.

(3) Snorkeling Package under Sari Pacifica Resort:

RM70.00 per adult
RM40.00 per child
*inclusive of boat transfer to Pulau Lima and Pulau Paku Besar and snorkeling gears.

For this snorkeling package, we just booked through the resort at night during dinner and made confirmation thereafter and set up for the departure time at 9.15am. Our boatmen were Teng and Awang. There will be a brief explanation before the departure and we were given life jackets, diving masks and snorkel. We were so lucky that life jackets for Hafiya, Adam and Eizzat (3yo) were available in their sizes.

We had to walk through the sea water (about my chest height) to get to the boat for snorkeling / island hopping purposes. *Note: please take out all your hp / camera / belongings inside your pocket and put them in water-proof bags before going to the boat.

Our first boat ride was to Pulau Lima, situated in less than 10 minutes from Sari Pacifica. I was the last person to join the fun of snorkeling that day as firstly, I was busy taking pictures of them snorkeling and fish feeding; secondly – I was scared as it was my first experience! Hehe. The kids were so excited especially with fish feeding. Awang, our boatman brought Khayra to the middle of the sea for snorkeling and they found gamat. So proud of Khayra as she was brave enough to experience it and made several trips of going into the sea for snorkeling. *Note: must send my kids for swimming lesson soon.

Awang told me just to relax and keep calm so that we could experience the snorkeling better and he was right! Hafiya also got the opportunity to be in the water for a while as Awang insisted to bring her down to gain the experience to be in the middle of sea.

After about more than one hour in Pulau Lima, we moved to another small island called Pulau Paku Besar – less than 8 minutes from Pulau Lima. As I was more confident this time around and the water was quite calm than the island before, I enjoyed snorkeling in Pulau Paku Besar. Subhanallah, the view deep down the ocean was so amazing and so beautiful; I just could not explain in words here but it was simply magnificent. The corals, the fishes and the scenery were so wonderful. Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for giving me the opportunity to see your beautiful creation in the ‘other’ world.

At noon, we went back to Sari Pacifica and had our lunch.

From L-R photos : Hafiya at the beach | Awang, our boatman did this for us – sand turtle | Hafiya – upon arrival Redang island | Khayra and Awang found gamat during snorkeling at Pulau Lima | View from our transferred boat to the island | Hafiya – playing with fine sand beach |

Overall it was a wonderful experience for me (and for all of us). Suddenly while typing these, I really want to go for snorkeling again! :D

K's Sport's Day

Khayra’s school Sport’s Day was held on last Thursday, 21.05.2015. We have to send her at 4.15pm and when we arrived, dah ramai yang ambil tempat. Temasya sukan school Khayra memang masa yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh most of the parents as it was simply FUN!

There was a segment for parents who want to join the game voluntarily and I did participate this year as the husband has already participated last year.

So this is our girl – performing her pom-pom dance!

So proud of her! *claps*

And no, my husband was not being the MC on that day :P

Meeting With Mrs. W

As usual when I fetched Khayra from her daycare, she will tell me about her day at school, at daycare, about her friends and I normally will ask about her bekal, about what did she learn in school and about her class teacher, Mrs. W. The normal and usual topics that we will chit chat in the car on our way back.

When we reached home, she will play with her figurine toys, read her books / Iqra or did some simple activity books / crafts before taking her bath and getting ready for dinner. So one day, bila abah dia balik dari kerja, laju je dia bagitau abah dia:

“Abah, esok Mrs. W nak jumpa abah.”

Abah dia macam terkejut sikit. Saya lagilah terkejut sebab sepanjang jalan dari ambil dia, tak ada pulak dia bagitau apa-apa. Terus debbor.

We asked her again to confirm, “What did teacher say, Khayra?” (Nak tahu the exact words. Hahaha)

“Please tell your father that I want to meet him tomorrow”

Ish, tak ke berdebbor kalau cikgu nak jumpa? Mulalah kami fikir macam-macam.

When they were already sleep that night, kami berdua buat post mortem tentang apa tujuan teacher Khayra nak jumpa esoknya ni.

Kira cikgu turun-temurun gitew. Bahahaha. And she was known as cikgu paling garang. Antara my husband punya main reason tak mahu hantar Khayra sekolah sama sebab risau kalau kena marah dengan Mrs. W sebab dia dah ada pengalaman ngeri dahulu. Hahahaha.

Nak dijadikan cerita juga, masa sesi pendaftaran untuk kelas 6 tahun this year, semua kelas akan reshuffle ikut prestasi masa umur 5 tahun. Kami harap agar Khayra tak akan under kelas Mrs. W sebab risau dia tak kental berada dalam kelas tu sebab cikgu garang dan strict. So masa pergi register, we were searching for Khayra’s name under Teacher Sue’s class and Teacher Ai Ping’s class. Cari punya cari nama Khayra tapi tak ada nama Khayra in both Teacher Sue’s and Teacher Ai Ping’s classes. So we went up to find Khayra’s name sebab ada lagi 1 kelas kat atas i.e 1st class that will be under Mrs. W. So finally we found out that Khayra will be under Mrs. W’s class! Terkejut jugak sekejap. *Sorry, Khayra – we underestimate you.*

Tapi sebenarnya Mrs. W is so nice in person walaupun garang dan strict. Dalam kelas dia ajar sangat laju. For the past four months, diorang dah siapkan quite a few number of activity bboks and reading books and have done with 3/4 of the syllabus.

The reason kita post mortem kenapa Mrs. W nak jumpa – we were quite worried about her prestasi dalam kelas. We were afraid if she could not cope with the instruction or method of teaching atau terlalu laju dan takut dia ketinggalan. Haih, macam-macam fikir malam tu sampai tak boleh tidur! Lulz. Our next theory was about the Sport’s Day fund that we have contributed. We thought because of our fund amount, the teachers wanted to give some appreciation and wanted to ask Hazri to be as one of the gift presenter. LOL. #fikirpositif

The next day, Hazri was having his LPQB assessment so we made a deal that I will go and see Mrs. W that morning. Sepanjang jalan dan dari malam I doa agar Allah permudahkan segala urusan that day. The thing is, we don’t mind kalau kena tukar kelas sekalipun sebab for her own good – tapi kita risau the morning drama nak ke school tu sebab yelah, dia kena face all the unfamiliar faces bila masuk kelas lain dan ini akan mengundang episod pujuk memujuk ke school setiap pagi. #dramapagi

When I went to see Mrs. W, first thing that she said upon seeing me that morning:

“Oh, actually I wanted to see her (Khayra) father, but never mind (and offered me a seat in front of her)”

Sebenarnya dah dup dap dup dap dah ni. Tunggu apa nak keluar dari mulut Mrs. W. Then I explained on the husband’s absence that day and apologized her for any inconveniences.

So this was the main reason why did she want to meet my husband:

“Oh, actually we want him to be MC for our Sport’s Day”

Phewww legaaaa. Hilang rasa peluh dingin. Hahaha. Drama sungguh T______T

So the conversation went along with other issues as well, including Khayra’s performance in class. Mrs. W commented on her handwriting but she added up:

“Maybe in my class – there are a lot of work and she wants to finish everything on time, but I can see that she can write nicely at home (referring to her homework).”

Hahahaha. So I showed her workbook at home and Mrs. W was so impressed that she could remember everything that she taught in class. *Macam nak nangis sikit pun ada masa ni.*

Then, the next thing that Mrs. W commented was regarding her bekal:

“You do it all by yourself? It is very good because in her bekal contains everything; protein and/or carbohydrate, fruits and vitamins. Actually I want to take her bekal and show it to all my other teachers. I am so looking forward to see her bekal everyday. Good effort by a working mom.”

So that what was happened when we have to meet her class teacher – and all sorts of dramas and worries before that. Hahaha penat fikir; rupanya nak minta jadi MC je. Heh.

Oh, ni cerita sebab teringat semula dan memandangkan Sport’s Day school Khayra will be held on this coming Thursday and she was being selected to perform the pom-pom dance – the highlight of the Sport’s Day performance every year!

We just can’t wait to be there and support our firstborn. *kiasu parents* :P

Throwback Photo : finding her name and got to know that she will be under Mrs. W's class – during registration day.

Activities For Kids (7)

Normally I memang pre-planned untuk aktiviti for Khayra dan Hafiya during the upcoming weekend. Hehehe.

Ini masa pergi Mr. DIY – Khayra requested nak beli sticker ni. seronok juga bila start buat – boleh pilih bahagian mana nak lekatkan sticker ikut colours. Adik Hafiya pun dah interested nak join sama, tapi tak reti nak keluarkan sticker dari base dia. Heheh.

Koleksi Lego Friends Khayra memang dah hampir lengkap semua set. Tapi kami beli yang murah je, bukan dari Toys R Us pun. Memula memang kumpul per set (price range from RM5.90 – RM29.90) sebab it comes in small set (only character and small pot of flowers) and medium set (comes with pet or other things seperti music set, bedroom set or car set). Biasanya beli masa nak isi minyak kat Shell, kat kedai alatulis Pustaka Seri Intan (PSI), kat kiosks shopping malls atau beli kat Johor Bahru / Kuantan masa pergi sana dan rupanya lagi murah! Boleh dapat yang small set tu RM10.00 = 3 sets. So bila ada banyak set, kami just beli base yang besar so that Khayra dan Hafiya boleh main and build up the imaginary lives of Emma, Stephanie, Olivia, Andrea and Mia. Addictive role play for them – sebab memang akan kusyuk dan tawadduk bila main! :P

Khayra kalau dah start buat, memang tekun nak buat semua set. This was when I bought 3 sets ingat nak minta buat by stages, tapi being her yang suka sangat Lego Friends ni, terus minta nak buat 3 set sekaligus.

Antara imaginary scenes for Emma, Stephanie, Olivia, Andrea and Mia - ada bedroom, ada kitchen, makeup table, living hall, swimming pool, gardens with pets and flowers :D

I introduced books to my girls from their early days. Dr. Halina wrote in her blog to introduce books to babies during their early stage – and even by just looking at the bright and colourful pictures pun dah boleh stimulate their brains. Ini favourite book Hafiya – selalu khatam baca sambil pointed out pictures apa on every pages. Bau baby sangat lagi masa ni dan jejesan saliva masih tak stop. Hehe.

Oh yeah, thank you my little girl Hafiya – bagi ibu extra work to keep all those flashcards after you have ‘read’ them. Hewhewhew. I could not barely remember umur berapa masa ni, tapi baru boleh berjalan rasanya – around 1 tahun 3 bulan and she loves flashcards especially on animal flashcards :P

Kalau Kakak Khayra ada koleksi lego, Hafiya pun ada – (tapi hand-me-down) Fisher Price Little People set. Senang main ni sebab ada base, so tak bersepah sangat. Senang nak simpan juga sebab comes with it's container box. Thank you, Aunty!

Ni baru bangun tidur, terus main. Bahagia jadi kanak-kanak. Tak perlu fikir tanggungjawab lagi. Hehe.

Work From Home

Vivy Yusof wrote in her blog that “there is no such thing as working from home.” I agree with that.

When I became a mother, plus minus about 6 years ago – I hardly ever brought my work back home or tried to work from home or go to the office during weekend. Kalau adapun, bawa je balik tapi tak buat pun UNLESS memang tahu sangat sangat sangat urgent dan tak sempat nak buat esok maka terpaksalah mengagahi mata to stay up late – untuk buat kerja atau datang office sekejap during weekend.

Tapi saya hanya pilih buat kerja dirumah bila anak-anak tidur sahaja. THAT’S IT.

My own reasons?

1. Anak-anak waktu kecilnya hanya sekali dan bila mereka sangat memerlukan kita semasa kecil ini, kita perlu ada for them. I will not trade this moment dengan siapkan bundle of work yang memang setiap hari takkan habis.

2. We have been working from 9am – 5pm dan pada masa yang sama they are with their teachers / caretakers – then balik rumah is the only time that we have with them. Kena betul-betul hargai masa kita dengan anak-anak. Kadang saya rasa guilty juga kalau tak dapat duduk lama dengan mereka – as I have to prepare for dinner, kemas dapur, basuh baju dan kemas rumah (and husband is so kind to help me with all these house chores!) Syukur.

3. My children will sleep at 9.00pm every school / working day, so I only have a few hours with them at home after fetching them from their respective daycare. (Fakta yang paling pedih untuk dihadam oleh saya as a full time working mom).

4. I feel so grateful when my children are still recognize me and even want to go home with me every time I fetch them from their respective daycare; knowing that they spend whole day with other persons other than their own parents. *nangis* *fakta menikam kalbu*

5. I choose to work – therefore I have to juggle between my own working time in the office and time that I spend with my kids at home. The keyword here is: organize.

6. I try my best to spend quality time with them during weekend and I think vacation is the most needed thing for us. Teeheee.

7. The other day I was on MC but being a mom what did I do at home? – I cooked for breakfast, lunch (hubby came home during lunch hour and that was great as I was not having my lunch alone!) and dinner, I did the laundry, cleaned the whole house, fetched Khayra and Hafiya from school, had reading time with them and joined them to play with their figurine toys. Lepas tu terus sembuh, alhamdulillah.

Hashtag: #SAHMinmydreams

As being referred in the matter number 7 hereinabove :P

What I really want to tell here is that: I totally cannot manage with work from home - failed big time!

My children, my treasure.

BBW Terengganu 2015

The Big Bad Wolf (BBW) Book Sale finally has arrived in KT. #BBWTerengganu was held at Unisza from 06.05.2015 to 11.05.2015. Weehuu! From the moment dapat tahu I was so excited dan dah set dalam calendar siap-siap. Haha.

Nak dijadikan cerita, I was being invited to attend a conveyancing meeting with PTG on #BBWTerengganu opening day tapi being me yang suka pergi masa 1st day so dapat banyak choices; I bersungguh jugak pergi selit masa during lunch hour to BBW tu. Fuh, nasib baik sempat walaupun 20 minit je kat sana. Managed to grab a few children books (19 books for RM67.45) dan bergegas untuk hadir meeting at 3pm.

Fruitful meeting with PTG that day. Seronok juga boleh mewakili peguam untuk menyampaikan anything related to conveyancing matters in Terengganu.

So bila weekend tu dah janji dengan Khayra dan Hafiya nak ajak diorang gi BBW. My children love books so much so when they heard about going to BBW, they were so excited dan siap menghitung hari nak pergi - tunggu hari Jumaat (nama BBW pun dah familiar sebab memang ajak diorang pergi almost every year to BBW). Khayra siap minta bawa trolley sebab senang nak bawa buku, dah belajar from past experiences. Haha.

Lepas balik solat Jumaat, husband had informed me that ada kawan dia bagitahu dekat BBW tu siap kena sekat dari nak masuk dewan sebab ramai orang. So we have to change plan, husband jaga Hafiya and I will go there dengan Khayra je. Sebab takut kesian kat Hafiya kalau ramai orang and we expected that stroller will not be convenient in there.

Hehe. Sampai depan Gym, ini senario yang terjadi :

Kena halang from memasuki dewan Gym sebab penuh manusia kat dalam.

So ini adalah antara #BBWstash kami on that day :D

Khayra memang suka sangat berada di Reference Section – dia pilih a few books on “What Does” series and a few kids encyclopedia. Bila turn nak membayar memang agak hazab sebab kena beratur mengelilingi Gym tu to get to the payment counters sebab ramai sangat orang! Haha. Gambar kat atas ni masa kami tengah beratur tunggu turn nak bayar dan Khayra sempat baca 2 buku. Teehee. On that day, kami beli 42 buah buku dengan harga RM121.60 (mind you 95% adalah children books termasuk activity books). Berbaloi-baloi! :D

All in all, sorry Hafiya – ibu tak dapat bawa gi BBW tapi memang a good decision sebab ramai orang dan stroller tak sesuai serta sedikit panas kat dalam sebab crowded dengan manusia yang nak beli buku murah. Hehe. Tapi ibu beli Hello Kitty and Dora books to Hafiya, hope you like it! Nanti kita pergi lagi, ya! :P

Long Weekend Getaway - Kota Bharu

After we made our JJCM to Kuantan, we went to Kota Bharu, Kelantan during Labour day and Wesak day = public holidays + weekend = long weekend.

It was for MIL’s reunion and we were invited to stay at the private villa chalet with very nice kampung-style scenery.

We just lepak in the chalet during the day and made movies marathon, the girls did some activity books, we brought lots of their toys to make sure they will occupied during the stay and during the evening, we went cycling around the villa compound (it was 30 acres big!), went for a boat ride (there was a lake too!), did some fish feeding activities and loaded up our tummy with three times buffet meals every day plus one BBQ buffet spread at night. *happy tummy*

Some of the photos during our stay :

Some of our activities :

The girls had fun during our stay. OTW back home, Khayra was feeling nausea and threw up once in the car and we went to clinic at night. Doctor said that she was having sensitive stomach and eating hot / spicy / acidic foods would cause her stomach pain / colic and mostly will affect her to vomit (we thought the oranges were the culprits because she had been eating them during our stay). She did not go to school on Monday and I took EL to nurse her at home.

Must. Watch. Her. Food. Intake. #notetomyself
