Preparation NZ - Part 1

Part 1

The idea nak pergi NZ adalah sebenarnya sebab my husband nak sangat try Motorhome. Masa tu kami hanya tahu term “Caravan” je, so tak apa, sebab tu kena travel banyak so that boleh menambah ilmu alam. Kekekeke. I will divide this entry into a few parts, so selamat menambah ilmu! :P

TRAVELLER BLOGS AND RESEARCHES

Kami start baca pasal NZ and landed on blog Kembara Sang Kancil. Seronok baca blog Encik Faizal ni yang sangat details sebab dia pun sewa Motorhome. Then I started emailed him (dan juga PM) sebab ada a few questions nak tanya. Alhamdulillah, dia jawab dengan baik. Terima kasih sangat! :D

Untuk trip NZ ni memang banyakkk kena membaca sebab kami plan nak pergi sendiri tanpa agensi pelancongan. Ada anak-anak kecil ni sukar sikit nak komited dengan masa yang orang tetapkan, jadi baik kita chillax je ikut convenient kita anak-beranak. Sebelum ni pernah pergi dengan travel agent to China and Turkey tapi masa tu anak sorang so rasa boleh lagi kejar masa, ni dah dua orang anak, rasa lagi best plan sendiri. So I started kumpul itinerary orang Malaysia yang dah pernah jejak NZ. Antaranya Kaki Berangan, Cik Safura, Neena Anuar and a few bloggers lain. Memang memberi panduan maklumat yang bagus traveler bloggers ni. Appreciate every detail in their blogs.

FLIGHT TICKETS, PASSPORT AND DRIVING LICENSE

Nak dijadikan cerita, sebenarnya plan asal kami nak pergi bulan April, 2015 dengan both sides of our parents. Tapi masa nak booking bulan January tu, my Tokki was not feeling very well at that point of time. So my parents berat juga nak bagi komitmen nak travel jauh. So kita dah cancelled terus plan April (autumn). Fast forward, masa akhir bulan 4 (at that time 80% itinerary semua dah siap), kami dapat tahu MAS ada buat online sale, so saje je aku gatal tangan tengok tickets to NZ and Alhamdulillah, rasa affordable, terus bentang proposal kat Menteri Kewangan kami, a.k.a Mr. Husband. Hehe.

Lepas bincang balik dengan our parents and diorang macam tak confident nak naik motorhome, then we agreed to proceed sebab dah dapat date yang Khayra tak perlu ponteng school lama sangat in September. So waktu kami berkobar-kobar nak booking pagi hari sebelum pergi kerja, tengah key in segala data for booking TAPI …

Jeng jeng, passport Khayra pula expired! Huwaaa. Nangis kejap sebab dah bersemangat waja semua kan.

Ada hikmah kan dengan apa yang jadi the day before.

Oh, pasal tiket flights ni, kami dah start survey dari January kan, sehingga membawa ke MATTA Fair masa bulan Mac etc. So bila compare dengan harga yang kami dapat masa online sale, rasa macam within our budget, sebab tu kami booking terus. Dan kami memang nak pilih MAS sebab the only direct flight ke Auckland. Yang lain kena transit dan ada yang transit up to 28 hours of total flights and transit, rasa macam tak mampulah nak transit lama-lama with the kids tagging along. Memang harga flight transit is way cheaper tapi if solo traveler atau without kids, maybe boleh consider. Hehe.

My kids – during nak renew passport and renew gambar passport :D

ITINERARY

This is the most crucial part (bagi aku). Sebab kena buat banyakkk research pasal tempat nak pergi, jarak perjalanan, aktiviti nak buat, holiday park atau accommodation to stay, kereta sewa, tempat makan halal atau kedai yang jual makanan halal (raw food material or cooking food material), child friendly environment, child activity etc. Ni paling lama nak siap dan paling dramatic sekali sebab ada banyak insiden berlaku. Haha. Siap menangis dan hampir nak give up pun ada. Haish. Ecewah. Ini akan aku go into day by day nanti in my next entry.

On a small note, kebetulan kami pergi NZ tu sekali dengan kawan masa U*iTM iaitu Nik Fara.

HALAL FOODS

Actually kat NZ banyak kedai dan restoran makanan halal, especially in town area so no need to worry too much. Mostly kedai ala Turkish (hello kebabs and salads! Yums) and from Middle East dan portion agak banyak. Biasanya kalau kami jumpa kedai Halal, kami akan order 2 main meals je for 4 of us. Most of Nandos kat city town area pun Halal. Product authentic and certified Halal by FIANZ (Federation of Islamic Association New Zealand). Masa tengah research pasal ayam Halal di NZ, a few blogs kata kena potong ayam sendiri into small cuttings lepas beli sebab most ayam Brink's jual seekor terus. I was a bit berdebar jugak masa tahu tentang hal ini sebab kalau beli ayam kat Malaysia pun, I request potong kecik siap-siap terus, inikan nak potong dari seekor into small parts tu macam alahai, tak kuasa. Haha. Dah siap plan nak beli pisau besar kat sana kalau tak disediakan inside our motorhome. Tapi bila kami beli groceries kat PaknSave Hornby, Christchurch, Alhamdulillah they did sell yang dah potong into small parts (thighs, drums, skinless breasts, whole legs etc) siap-siap dan ada juga yang dah marinade. Nak melompat happy pun ada masa jumpa tu. Hehe. So you can read more on Brink’s NZ Chicken here. Untuk seafood macam sotong dan udang, they did sell yang already packed and frozen, dan ada yang jual per kilo so bolehlah beli mana yang sesuai. One thing to consider, kalau masak lebih jimatkan masa sebab nak locate kedai Halal dan cari parking pun makan masa.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE AND CREDIT CARDS

Kat NZ guna NZD (New Zealand Dollar). The lowest kami dapat masa tu. So kalau kami tukar sekarang dengan NZD yang masih berbaki, kami untung lagi! Credit cards especially Visa and Master Cards boleh guna in most kedai and petrol station and they rarely accept American Express (AMEX) kat sana.

Photo: Hafiya and tempat kami tukar duit NZD.

WEATHER

Kalau ikut general weather di NZ, September dah masuk Spring tapi sebenarnya September will still be regarded as end of Winter. So masa kami pergi still boleh pergi main snow di Coronet Peak (opens in June – October only) and still banyak tempat ada pemandangan snow capped mountains. Indahnya, Subhanallah. Di Auckland (Northern Island) masa kami sampai dalam 13’C and in Southern Island around 10’C and below. Gigil jugalah waktu malam hari. Brrrr. Please take note that during Summer (December – February) will be regarded as peak tourists season hence most accommodations and rentals akan mahal. They regarded this time as expensive months.

PACKING

If you know me very well, you will know that I always take packing as a serious stuff. Kahkah! Even nak pergi KL je atau staycation pun akan packing dengan teliti and I always hope that I could bring the whole house! Bahahaha. If nak ke overseas, I usually start to pack a month earlier and this is a serious commitment, guys. No kidding. Kena fikir packing for 4 orang jadi kenalah start awal and siap ada checklist, hokey? Haha. My BFFs will surely faham my stand on this thing. Hehe. For this trip, kami bawa 4 beg i.e: 1 bag pakaian (the biggest size but lightweight luggage – 25kg), 1 beg for foods (cabin size luggage – 15kg), 2 backpacks i.e small size and hoversack 120L (for convenient storage and for our winter jackets). More details on packing will come up in Part 2.

Our luggage.

I will stop here for this entry. More to come insyaAllah. Doakan I ada masa to write down everything, to watermark my photos dan juga mengarang entri berikutnya. Hewhewhew :P

Salam Tahun Baru Hijrah 1437H!

Simple As That

My birthday was 3 days ago. So overwhelming with all those FB messages, private messages, Whatsapps messages, and calls to wish me on my birthday. Tak rasa tua pun?! Bahahahaha. *in denial*

As usual on my birthday: the most-awaited-card-award goes to the one from my dear husband and as expected, I cried when I read that. *drama queen* Serious, touching sangat and rasa macam baru je bercinta *ehem*

My husband and his sweet-written-notes = never fail untuk buat daku jatuh cinta berkali-kali lagi. Haha. *blush*

So back to my birthday story – nothing yang fancy pun. Hari Jumaat tu (12th June), kita busy kemas dan bersihkan rumah sebab dah nak puasa dan sekaligus buat persiapan Raya sebab nanti senang nak concentrate this coming Ramadhan ya kareem. So we called our usual helper yang kami akan call kalau melibatkan pembersihan yang maksima seluruh rumah - untuk datang bersihkan sekali. The rest of the day I just spent time dengan kekanak riang tu je kat rumah dan buat aktiviti together. Bila malam kita semua dah ready pakai cantik-cantik nak went out for my birthday dinner, tetibe on the way tu both of us rasa tak sedap perut, lastly we decided untuk tapau je foods and makan kat rumah with the kids. Hahaha. Hubby insisted to bring me to a hotel for dinner tapi saya tanak. So dia kata dia hutang satu special dinner dengan saya. Kekeke.

The thing is I consider myself as easy to please. Not interested with big houses (sebab nanti penat nak mop / sapu. Kekeke), not interested with luxury cars (I think tak berbaloi sebab the value will deficit every year), not interested with expensive dinner (asal kenyang dan sedap, cukuplah for me) and am not a collector of designer bags (I hereby reserve my comment - hihihi) – so dear Mr. Husband, count on your blessings! LOL :P

One thing for sure, I won’t decline any vacation offer :D Just simple as that. Bahahaha. *kenyit mata*

The school session was resumed back yesterday lepas 2 minggu tak payah fikir pasal bekal. And these cute things sampai at the right time!

Food picks from @nuku.nuku. Too cute to resist!

Island Vacay - Sari Pacifica Resort and Spa, Redang

I have a lot of things to write tapi tak cukup masa. But for now, kita review on our recent island vacation to : REDANG ISLAND (04.06.2015 – 06.06.2015).

Since it was school holiday season, jadi harga pakej kami adalah: peak season.

(1) 3H2M package at Sari Pacifica Resort and Spa (pre-booked):

Type of Villa : Lagoon
RM598.00 per adult
RM299.00 per child (4yo and above)
*inclusive of buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The room : very spacious with 1 king size bed and 1 queen size bed, a balcony facing manmade fountain, changing / wardrobe room, safe box, TV, make up room, separated toilet and shower rooms and bath tub. The buffet spread meals were good and delicious consist of salad station, dessert and fruit station, beverages station, soup station and the main course station (nasi putih and lauk pauk and vegetables, pasta, noodles, nasi goreng, sausages, etc).

It was just a walking distance to the hotel lobby, cafe and beach. The view was amazing, Subhanallah. I have this love-hate relationship with the beach as I love the scenery and the relaxing moments there but I hate to do the cleaning part of the fine beach sand on our clothes. Teheee.

We rarely take the kids to the beach as we are not so sure what to do on an island vacay but after staying in Redang for the past few days I could not help but fall in love with island vacation. My kids have had their enjoyable moments there throughout our stay.

Thus, island vacay : 1 - Wahida : 0.

(2) Ferry transfer : KT Shahbandar Jetty – Redang Island (1 hour 30 mins):

EXPRESS SEJAHTERA by SEJAHTERA FERRY Services Sdn. Bhd. (pre-booked)

RM35.00 (per adult) for one (1) way transfer
RM20.00 (per child) for one (1) way transfer

Our Ferry scheduled time:
From KT Shahbandar Jetty to Redang Island : 8.30am
From Redang Island to KT Shahbandar Jetty : 11.30am

It is advisable that you take your medicine to prevent from motion sickness. We took our medicine (including the kids) half an hour before boarding the ferry to Redang. Most of us dozed off in the 1 hour 30 minutes ferry ride to Redang as there was nothing else you can do. There was TV in the ferry, but if you are lucky to get the front seat, then you can kill the time by watching movies.

We were being transferred to another boat when we were about 500 meters to reach Redang Island (basically it was done at the sea) and only then we reached at the island itself. It has no jetty at all – just a main drop off to the island in front of Redang Island Resort. Next, we have to wait for our mini tractor to pick us up to Sari Pacifica. It was basically a mini tractor with 4 huge tires which can be drove through the sand beach heading up to our resort which was located about 300 meters from the main drop off. We (and our luggage) had to be transported to Sari Pacifica Resort in two trips as the mini tractor was not capable to move with heavy loads as it had to go through lots of fine beach sand.

We managed to check in early during that day and after rest for a while, we went for lunch. Later in the evening, we went to the beach for sand castle and swimming activities.

(3) Snorkeling Package under Sari Pacifica Resort:

RM70.00 per adult
RM40.00 per child
*inclusive of boat transfer to Pulau Lima and Pulau Paku Besar and snorkeling gears.

For this snorkeling package, we just booked through the resort at night during dinner and made confirmation thereafter and set up for the departure time at 9.15am. Our boatmen were Teng and Awang. There will be a brief explanation before the departure and we were given life jackets, diving masks and snorkel. We were so lucky that life jackets for Hafiya, Adam and Eizzat (3yo) were available in their sizes.

We had to walk through the sea water (about my chest height) to get to the boat for snorkeling / island hopping purposes. *Note: please take out all your hp / camera / belongings inside your pocket and put them in water-proof bags before going to the boat.

Our first boat ride was to Pulau Lima, situated in less than 10 minutes from Sari Pacifica. I was the last person to join the fun of snorkeling that day as firstly, I was busy taking pictures of them snorkeling and fish feeding; secondly – I was scared as it was my first experience! Hehe. The kids were so excited especially with fish feeding. Awang, our boatman brought Khayra to the middle of the sea for snorkeling and they found gamat. So proud of Khayra as she was brave enough to experience it and made several trips of going into the sea for snorkeling. *Note: must send my kids for swimming lesson soon.

Awang told me just to relax and keep calm so that we could experience the snorkeling better and he was right! Hafiya also got the opportunity to be in the water for a while as Awang insisted to bring her down to gain the experience to be in the middle of sea.

After about more than one hour in Pulau Lima, we moved to another small island called Pulau Paku Besar – less than 8 minutes from Pulau Lima. As I was more confident this time around and the water was quite calm than the island before, I enjoyed snorkeling in Pulau Paku Besar. Subhanallah, the view deep down the ocean was so amazing and so beautiful; I just could not explain in words here but it was simply magnificent. The corals, the fishes and the scenery were so wonderful. Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for giving me the opportunity to see your beautiful creation in the ‘other’ world.

At noon, we went back to Sari Pacifica and had our lunch.

From L-R photos : Hafiya at the beach | Awang, our boatman did this for us – sand turtle | Hafiya – upon arrival Redang island | Khayra and Awang found gamat during snorkeling at Pulau Lima | View from our transferred boat to the island | Hafiya – playing with fine sand beach |

Overall it was a wonderful experience for me (and for all of us). Suddenly while typing these, I really want to go for snorkeling again! :D

2 Rejab

Tengok iG sekejap then rasa guilty kenapa tak boleh bangun buat tahajud saja. Lantas bangun, wudhuk, solat dan baca Quran.

Begitulah kita, hamba yang alpa. Mengadulah dengan Allah kerana Dia Maha Mendengar.

Moga Allah tebalkan kesabaran dan tingkatkan iman kita. InsyaAllah.

Salam Rejab, everyone!

Heartbreaking

I just watched a clip video (duration of the video is about 2 minutes plus) on FB where a toddler boy has been forced to take his medicine by a caretaker.

-

Heartbreaking! :(

Kenapa sanggup buat begitu? They are still not understand. They are your responsibility within your working hours, amanah ibubapa untuk si pengasuh. They need love, they need us to guide them, they need attention. Kalau they refuse to take the medicine, pujuklah cara yang baik. Jangan dibuat sebegitu rupa. I choose not to elaborate sebab saya tiada ditempat kejadian, I just can interpret based on what I see. Tapi luluhlah hati bila melihat cara sebegitu dibuat kepada anak kecil.

I am a full time working mom. I have both of my parents and parents in laws yang duduk dekat but my husband and I choose to send our kids to daycare sebab tanak susahkan parents. We want our parents to have their own sweet time, ada masa untuk tambah ibadah dan ada masa for themselves sebab dulu diorang dah jaga dan besarkan kita adik beradik. It is not an easy task, now kita tahulah macam mana payahnya nak besarkan anak-anak dan kita boleh rasai apa yang parents dah lalui dulu.

Betul, we always want the best for our kids. So please, save your comments and stop judging people. We are not in their shoes, jangan bandingkan kehidupan kita dengan orang lain.

Hanya doa senjata utama kita. Berdoalah dan jaga hubungan dengan Allah.

Sebenarnya saya still sedih, hancur hati tengok video tu tadi. Ni dah tahap membebel tak tentu hala. Kecamuk ni rasa hati. Down pulak sikit rasa.

Haihh, dah nak masuk bulan Mac pun kan. Cepat betul masa berlalu. OKlah, sampai ketemu lagi. I am still sad. Tsk :/

SUNDAYS

I have this love-hate relationship with SUN-DAYS.

Spending 2 full days; 48 hours with your family during the weekend, having fun and spending quality time with your children from morning till night, listen to their bubbly voices, make some activities with them or just simply lepak-ing at your home-sweet-home = will most likely cause me a weekend withdrawal syndrome on most Sundays in my motherhood diary.

My Sunday will most likely (if I am not that busy):

+ Counting hours to go home to see my family;
+ Pray that no appointment with fussy client(s), pretty please?
+ Pray that no negotiation with difficult client(s), please?
+ Pray that the clock will strike 5pm in a blink of eye. Hehe.
+ Planning what’s for our dinner.

This morning, I scolded Khayra for not getting ready quickly lepas mandi. I have finished making her warm milo, sharpened her pencils and did some dishes but she was still not getting ready with her school uniform. So I scolded her and she cried. Her abah had to interfere and she stopped crying and ate her breakfast. She came to me and salam me before she went to school with her abah. I know, I shouldn't scold her and feel bad about that. I guess Mr. Gopal’ has overruled my Sunday morning today. *sigh*

I feel guilty for the whole day today. Make my Sunday even worst :(

I stare at the clock, it’s still 3.55pm walaupun rasa dah buat kerja lamaaaa dari pagi. Heh.

Lepas tu rasa insaf.

“Janganlah kamu bersedih, sesungguhnya Allah bersama kita.”
(Surah At Taubah : 40)

My father called and informed me that he has bought a large pizza for us.

A banker called and told me that we have secured a large amount of loan today and asked us to take the offer letter.

Alhamdulillah.

Please excuse my ranting today.

I just miss my little darlings. Sobs T________T

Random Things - 28th January

Pujuk anak setiap pagi selama 3 minggu sesi persekolahan bagi tahun 2015. Pengorbanan ibu bapa macam inilah; dad/mom gotta do what a dad’s/mom’s gotta do.

+ Ada partner pula belanja for tea time untuk the whole firm petang ini. Alhamdulillah sekali lagi. Rezeki dari Allah semua ini.

+ We just found out Khayra akan bawa balik junk foods / candies kalau ada orang bagi masa kat daycare / school (sempena birthdays / sebagai token). Then she will seek for our permission kalau nak makan. Sungguh saya terharu sebab dia tak makan terus there and then. Anak-anak saya masih belum move on dengan Frozen T____T

+ Saya tengah teruja tunggu parcels dari US. Tolonglah cepat. Lagha betul tapi memang teruja sebab baju anak-anak.

+ Dah 28 haribulan, nak menghampiri bulan kedua ditahun 2015 ini. Cepatnya alahai masa.

+ Khayra masuk darjah 1 tahun depan. Saya dah start risau sebenarnya.

Okbye.
